Spinoso Commits to CEU Scorpions, Eyes UCAL Impact

Forward Gianluca Spinoso has officially committed to the Centro Escolar University (CEU) Scorpions.

He adds size, energy, and versatility to the team as they gear up for the upcoming Universities and Colleges Athletic League (UCAL) season.

Spinoso is a 6’3″ forward originally from San Francisco with roots in Newark Memorial High School (Class of 2020).

He brings with him a strong amateur background and the mindset of a player ready to contribute immediately.

“I chose CEU mainly because of the coaches,” Spinoso said. “They reached out to me and showed interest and consistent contact showing how much they wanted me and that I was one of the guys they wanted.”

Before finalizing his decision, Spinoso received attention from several college programs.

“Unfortunately, I won’t mention other schools,” he shared.

“But a couple named schools in the UAAP and NCAA have reached out and have shown interest in my talents.”

Winning Matters

Despite the interest, CEU’s winning tradition and system made the difference.

“I already know CEU is a winning program, but my goals with the team are to keep that going,” he said. “I feel like I have what it takes to help the team wherever or whatever they need me to do.”

Spinoso credits his trust in CEU’s head coach Joe Silva as a major factor.

“I’m really eager about everything he has to offer. I know he’s a great coach with an efficient system, so I’m just ready to learn and improve my game as much as possible, and I trust he’ll help reach my full potential.”

Spinoso is expected to bring maturity and physicality to the Scorpions lineup in his two years of eligibility.

He joins a program that has consistently competed at a high level in the UCAL, and his addition signals CEU’s continued push to stay dominant in the league.
