Kyle Gamber: The Blue Eagle With Steez
There’s something instantly magnetic about Kyle Gamber: the blend of swagger, calm energy, and rhythm that fits right into the Ateneo culture while still feeling uniquely his.
The third-year guard/wing, born in Maryland and raised in Dover, Delaware, grew up with basketball stitched into his routine. His dad put the ball in his hands early, signed him up for leagues, and kept him grinding until the game became second nature.
From there, Kyle never stopped playing and it shows in his poise, body control, and natural feel for the game.
Kyle’s pregame routine says a lot about him: music blasting, a solo dance party, meditation, breathing work, and a signature rim-touch jump plus a knee-tuck hop before tipoff.
He’s got his own rhythm, his own vibe. He names Bones Hyland as his biggest influence — another Delaware guard with flair and edge — and you can see the inspiration in Kyle’s creativity and swagger.
Off the court, he’s experimental with fits, chill with his energy, and hilariously self-aware (his teammates’ dating-profile headline for him is literally: “He has a girlfriend”).
Kyle’s a slow-build type — on love, on goals, on milestones — and he’s already thinking ahead: a communications major who wants to build a training facility for kids who love the game as much as he does.

How did you first get into basketball?
My dad introduced me at a very young age and put me in leagues and trained me. From there I just kept playing and never stopped.

Listen to music, a little dance party to myself, meditate, focus on my breathing. If I’m starting, I jump at the rim, and before tipoff I hop up, bring my knees to my chest, and bounce on my feet.
Biggest basketball influence or role model?
Bones Hyland. He’s from Delaware too and was a role model for kids from my area. Also love his game.
Proudest moment on the court so far?
Had a pretty good preseason this off-season, but still a long way to go. I don’t really see those moments yet until I get to my bigger goals.
Major and future goals:
Communication major. After basketball, I want to start a training facility/business where kids who love the game can develop.
