Daily Fantasy Heat Check #9: Tyrese Maxey
Last season, Tyrese Maxey played the biggest role of his career as he ranked 5th in the league for scoring. Will that change given that LeBron James and Jaylen Brown have now joined the team?
The Heat Check series focus on players who are “stat monsters,” producers who are cornerstones of all kinds of fantasy league teams and contests.
2025-2026 SEASON STATS
Tyrese Maxey
Regular Season Stats
28.3 points per game (46.7% shooting percentage, 36.7% from three)
4.1 rebounds per game
6.6 assists per game
1.9 steals per game
The Philadelphia 76ers was Tyrese Maxey’s team last season. He was the stat-monster of the team, more so during the times that Joel Embiid did not suit up (about more than half the season). Maxey continues to possess an insane work ethic and a drive to be a great scorer, something that he was able to achieve last season (ranked 5th in scoring).
The biggest concern is probably a change in his usage rate, given that two elite players (LeBron and JB) are now in the team, and those two are very capable scorers and passers to say the least. They could definitely lighten Maxey’s load, even if pundits are expecting him to have another All-Star season.
For Laki Play Players: HOT! Chances are, Tyrese Maxey will still be the primary offensive creator even with the addition of very capable players (LeBron James and Jaylen Brown) into the starting roster. Joel Embiid will probably be injured again, and a 40-something LeBron will sit out some minutes, so Maxey is indeed team-captain material ion any contest.
Traditional Fantasy Players: MID! There are better first and second picks for the guard position. The biggest upside is Maxey’s durability, so he is a great supplement pick for the guard positions. He does not have a great 3-point percentage, but he does average 30 a night.
