PLDT Opens PVL title Defense with Win Over EST Cola

PLDT High Speed Hitters opened their title defense with a four-set victory over Thailand’s EST Cola, 25-23, 25-15, 26-28, 25-14, in the 2026 PVL Invitational Conference on Monday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Savi Davison powered PLDT with 30 points, tallying 24 attacks, five blocks, and an ace as the defending champions bounced back from a third-set loss to finish the match in four sets.

The High Speed Hitters looked in control after taking the opening two sets, but EST Cola extended the match by snatching the third frame, 28-26.

PLDT responded immediately in the fourth, pulling away from the Thai side to secure the victory and start its title defense with a win.

The High Speed Hitters swept the 2025 PVL Invitational Conference and returned this year as the team to beat, facing a field featuring both local contenders and foreign guest teams.

PLDT faces Nxled on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., while EST Cola takes on Farm Fresh at 4 p.m.
