SIBOL Advances to Asian Games MLBB Quarterfinals With Perfect Group Stage Run
SIBOL punched its ticket to the quarterfinals after securing back-to-back sweeps over Jordan and Kazakhstan in Pool C of the 20th Asian Games MLBB tournament at Aichi Sky Expo on Tuesday.
SIBOL’s Golden Run is off to a strong start as it continues its quest for gold in MLBB’s debut as an official Asian Games medal event, with regional rival Indonesia awaiting in the quarterfinals.
In Game 1, Alston Pabico’s Zhuxin secured a double kill during the two-minute mid-lane clash after Kazakhstan failed to ambush him, helping SIBOL build a 2,000-gold lead.
The Philippines kept its momentum as Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno’s Nolan reached Level 15 at the 8:14 mark, while Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya’s Uranus soaked up damage on the frontlines against Kazakhstan.
Despite losing all of its defense turrets, Kazakhstan put up a valiant fight during the Philippines’ 13-minute base siege. Kussepov’s Belerick even pulled off a Conceal-Wrath of the Dryad play from behind, but it was not enough to stop the Filipinos from taking Game 1.
The Philippines rode its momentum into Game 2, sealing the series in just 11 minutes.
With the Lord on SIBOL’s side, Nepomuceno’s Paquito unleashed his full power in the 10-minute bottom-lane clash against Kazakhstan, stealing the spotlight with a Savage to seal the sweep.
The Philippines topped Group C with a perfect 2-0 record and will now turn its attention to the quarterfinals against Indonesia on September 30 at 11:50 a.m. (PH time), with a semifinals berth at stake.
