Team Liquid Ends MPL PH S18 Regular Season as Top Seed
Defending champion Team Liquid fended off rival Team Falcons with a dramatic 2-1 reverse sweep in the final match of the MPL Philippines Season 18 regular season at Victoria Sports Tower.
The Cavalry charged to the top of the standings, capping off the regular season as the No. 1 seed with an impressive 12-2 win-loss record while avenging their 1-2 loss to the Falcons in Week 1.
Game 1 saw Team Falcons and Team Liquid go toe-to-toe in the early game, with kills tied at 2-2 and both teams nearly even in gold.
The Green Falcons invaded Team Liquid’s jungle and made their moves count, building a 2,000-gold lead as Owgwen’s Marcel absorbed damage and Kyle’s Paquito picked off KarlTzy’s Aulus.
Hadji’s Eudora made his presence felt in the mid lane, consistently pressuring Sanji’s Kimmy with crowd control and burst damage.
Team Falcons maintained their comfortable lead after Kyle’s Paquito secured a double kill during a nine-minute clash in the mid lane that wiped out the Cavalry.
The Green Falcons claimed the opening game as Hadji’s Eudora delivered a crucial triple kill during an 11-minute base siege. He earned MVP honors with a flawless 9-0-3 KDA.
In Game 2, Team Liquid looked to bounce back and seize early-game momentum during the second Turtle clash. However, Team Falcons fought back with a favorable 1-for-3 trade, crucially taking down KarlTzy’s Aulus.
Team Liquid began to turn the tide when Sanford’s Alice initiated a successful team fight with a Throne of Ruin–Flicker combo during a seven-minute clash in the top lane, taking down at least two members of Team Falcons.
The Cavalry broke through the Falcons’ defenses at the 11-minute mark as Jaypee’s Minotaur knocked up three opponents with a Minoan Fury–Flicker combo, allowing Teddy’s Freya to pick up a double kill.
Sanji bounced back in Game 2, posting a 4-1-9 KDA on Pharsa to help Team Liquid force a deciding third game.
In Game 3, Team Liquid displayed grit and resilience, mounting an impressive comeback after falling behind 0-5 against Team Falcons by the 10-minute mark.
The momentum shifted in the Cavalry’s favor during the 17-minute Lord contest as Kyle’s Alice failed to catch three members, resulting in him being picked off and allowed Team Liquid to secure the Lord uncontested.
Team Liquid sealed the deal with a successful siege at the 20-minute mark, capitalizing on its crowd-control-heavy lineup led by Jaypee’s Minotaur and Sanford’s Lapu-Lapu.
Sanford proved to be a reliable force on the front lines, finishing the game with a 2-2-8 KDA on Lapu-Lapu.
Team Liquid had already secured an upper-bracket spot in the playoffs, putting the defending champions in a strong position to continue their title defense and pursue a historic four-peat.
