The Jules Tolentino Dating Guide

Jules Tolentino doesn’t just swipe left or right—she judges your coffee order first. Barista drinks? Starbucks? Matcha? Pass that test, and maybe you survive the next: keeping up with a funny, career-driven, volleyball-hardworking whirlwind who gives zero points to slackers.

In this casual conversation with Petro Gazz’s setter Julyana “Jules” Tolentino, we explore her playbook for love, life, and everything in between—how she likes to be wooed, what drives her on and off the court, and the green flags, red flags, and non-negotiables that keep her heart in check while her spikes stay on point.

ALL-STAR: When someone tries to win your attention, what instantly makes you look up from your phone?

Jules Tolentino: I’m sure if the guy gives me coffee!

AS: Gives you coffee?

JT: Yes.

AS: What kind of coffee do you like?

JT: I like barista drinks and Starbucks! And also pwede ring matcha.

AS: Be honest, are you more drawn to someone funny, sincere, or someone who knows the game?

JT: Someone who knows the game because I’m the funny one!

AS: Let’s talk about love language, Jules. What’s your love language?

JT: Service.

AS: How do you show someone—or set their approach—if they want to score with you?

JT: Kailangan i-win mo muna ako by messaging, etc!.

AS: Volleyball life is very intense. What should someone really understand before dating an athlete like you?

JT: Maybe our time. Most of the time, we’re not available. So they have to understand that sometimes it’s tiring.

AS: Imagine after a long day or a long week of training and competition, what’s your ideal date that you look forward to?

JT: Siguro a massage!

AS: Massage?

JT: Foot spa, facial, nails! hahah!

AS: Let’s talk about green and red flags. What’s a tiny green flag that tells you, okay, this person actually gets me?

JT: Maybe if the guy is emotionally intelligent. If you don’t need to explain yourself, he’ll get it right away. He’ll get it.

AS: And a red flag? Something so bright it’s basically a warning card in the PVL.

JT: For me, a red flag is someone who has no plans for the future. Even for himself. I like a guy who’s very career-driven.

AS: What’s one non-negotiable you have when it comes to relationships?

JT: The guy needs to be hard-working. Because I’m a really hard-working woman, so he need to level up with me in life.

AS: If someone wants to be a part of your life, what’s the one thing they absolutely have to respect about your schedule or your career?

JT: Maybe the my time off and everything. Ayaw ko rin naman na super volleyball yung topicl. Gusto ko rin yung someone who respects also my family, and yung tim eko with them. So kung hindi mo kaya, eh di sama ka na lang with my family.

AS: Last question, complete the sentence: If you want to date me, ___?JT: Okay, if you want to date me, hindi pwede kasi may boyfriend na ako!
