Inside the Quiet Leadership of Super Frince
ONIC PH’s team captain, Frince Ramirez, a.k.a. Super Frince, doesn’t need to be loud to be heard.
At first glance, you’d think that Super Frince was too nonchalant, too reserved, to handle a squad known for being kalog — lively, playful, and sometimes, over the top.
But, how can someone so quiet command a team so loud?
“Kapag kami-kami lang yung magkakasama, iba ako.”

Inside the bootcamp, Super Frince shifts. He always blends in and keeps up with the whole ONIC PH’s energy.
“Kapag kami-kami lang yung magkakasama, iba ako eh,” he said while smiling to ALL-STAR.
“Pero kapag sa ibang tao, iba talaga yung nakikita nila sa akin.”
However, he knows when he needs to step up.
For him, leadership means measuring the gaps.
“Siguro yung leadership para sa akin is kung paano ko aayusin yung pagkukulang namin as a team. Parang tina-tantya ko siya tapos hinahanap ko yung problema or pagkukulang para maayos namin kaagad,” Super Frince said.
Instead of pushing his team into his style, he molds his style around his team. He doesn’t force authority, he calibrates it. One player might be sensitive, another too carefree, and one could be easily frustrated.
Super Frince reads them all like a map.
“Basta tinatanya ko sila based sa mga ugali nila kung paano ko sila iha-handle,” he said.
“Yung pagsasama namin sa bootcamp… solid talaga,” he added. “Nagsasabihan kami ng mga bagay-bagay. Kunwari, naso-sobrahan na sa kulit, sumo-sobra na sa mga pagbibiro, o kaya may mga nararamdaman na sa isa’t-isa.”
Owning His Mistakes First

“How do you motivate a team when you rarely raise your voice?” ALL-STAR asked.
Super Frince broke expectations with his reply. He doesn’t begin by pointing out his teammates’ mistakes. He begins with his own.
“Mino-motivate ko yung team sa pagsasabi ko sa mga errors na nakikita ko,” he says. “Pero inu-una kong sabihin palagi sa team kung saan ako nagkamali,” he said.
It’s a simple answer, but it shows the kind of captain he is. By taking responsibility first, he sets the tone for everyone else to follow. In a game decided by discipline and trust in each other’s decisions, that kind of example matters.
And that is why ONIC PH were called “The Super Family”.
Quiet, Yet Commanding
So is there ever a need for Super Frince to be more vocal, to dictate him as the captain of the team?
He answered humbly with a smile on his face.
“Siguro hindi naman.”
“Normal nang vocal ako kapag magkakasama kami sa bootcamp. Kapag sa social media, iba talaga ako. Pero kapag magkakasama kaming team, hindi ako nahihiya.”
Perhaps that’s the secret of Super Frince: he doesn’t have to pretend. His leadership doesn’t live in public. It exists where it matters the most — in the middle of the team, when the doors are closed, and when the game is on the line.
