TigGO for Gold: Humility is Key for Former PVL MVP Mylene Paat

Humility is the key that guides Chery Tiggo’s run to the PVL On Tour finals, and no one shows it better than PVL MVP Mylene Paat. She was instrumental when Chery Tiggo last won in the PVL in 2021, so if anyone knows what it takes to win a championship match, it is her.

Still rehabbing and not yet back on the court, Paat has become the calm voice, the quiet prayer on the sideline, and the steady hand reminding her teammates of purpose.

Leading While Recovering

Mylene’s role this conference has been more about presence than minutes. When asked why she has not played still, she said, “Nagrerecover padin ako from my injury.” Those words explain where she is physically, but they don’t show how much she has given the team in other ways: showing up to practices, studying opponents, and sharing advice from hard-earned experience.

As the key player who helped the Crossovers win their last PVL title, she knows the little details that matter in big games. During the tense semis match, she was bent in prayer on the sideline while the Araneta Coliseum roared. That quiet moment spoke louder than any speech—humility in action of a former PVL MVP and champion. She kept the team focused on meaning over panic:

“Pinapaalala ko lagi sakanila na noong di kami nanalo sa Zus, it was God’s plan.”

In that reminder she turned a past loss into a reason to fight harder.

Paat’s advice mixed faith with simple and honest coaching. When asked by ALL-STAR whether she shared an advice to her teammates during one of their toughest moments this season, she remained true to her faith:

“Yes, ni-remind ko sila na ito ang path na binigay ni Lord saamin. Hindi man madali pero kailangan namin siya i-embrace.”

That message wasn’t just about believing—it was about accepting hard work and staying together when things get tough. Her steady words helped the team find strength in unity.

She summed up her view of the team’s run this way: “God’s plan talaga kasi dinala niya padin kami sa finals kahit marami kaming pinagdaanan. Kumapit yung teammates ko kahit yung mahirap na path yung binigay.” That belief holds weight. Her experience in winning a title gave her a clear idea of what a PVL championship requires—focus, calmness, trust in our Creator, and trust in one another.

Mylene Paat’s journey back from injury and her quiet leadership have helped shape a team ready for one more shot at the crown. If anyone knows how to win when it counts, it’s the woman who stood at the center of Chery Tiggo’s last PVL title.

This Sunday the court will decide the score, but the story that got them there — led by humility, faith, and experience — is already a win on its own.
