Daily Fantasy Week 16: The Trade Deadline

It is only mere days before the NBA February 5 trade deadline. A lot of things are still up in the air. The midseason chaos provides a lot of drama, and consequently, a lot of adjustments into these fantasy line-ups.

Match 1: The Charlotte Hornets vs the Houston Rockets (February 6)

The Charlotte Hornets are on a mini-rampage with a 7-game win streak. During this streak, they have slain better teams such as the Denver Nuggets and the San Antonio Spurs. It will be interesting to see how they fare against the lengthy Rockets players, who will be playing without reliable key big man Steven Adams, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury.

Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:

Captain: Kevin Durant

Vice Captain: Alperen Sengun

Key picks: LaMelo Ball, Kon Knueppel, Brandon Miller, Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr.

Match 2: The New York Knicks vs the Detroit Pistons (February 7)

Just two weeks ago, everybody was counting out the Knicks, and there was even a players-only meeting called by Jalen Brunson. He wanted the team to play with more urgency and to stop blaming the coaching staff for the slump they were having, and it would seem that it did work–they have won their last 6 outings since then. The momentum of this mini-run will be tested by the only team with more wins than they have in the eastern bloc, the Detroit Pistons. With the hype the Knicks have been receiving as a possible destination for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Cade and friends will surely come out and play in this potential eastern finals contest.

Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:

Captain: Cade Cunningham

Vice Captain: Jalen Brunson

Key picks: Karl Anthony-Towns, Jalen Duren, OG Anunoby, Miles Bridges, Tobias Harris

Match 3: The Memphis Grizzlies vs the Portland Trailblazers (February 7, 8)

No Ja, no Edey, no Aldama. The Grizzlies will have to rely on Ty Jerome and JJJ as they face the Trailblazers, who are currently on a slump right now with a 5-game losing skid. Deni might not even show up, but he’d probably suit-up considering that he was just named into the All-Star reserves for the NBA All-Star Game.

Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:

Captain: Deni Avdija

Vice Captain: Shaedon Sharpe

Key picks: Ty Jerome, Jaren Jackson, Jr., Jerami Grant, Cedric Coward, Toumani Camara

Match 4: The Dallas Mavericks vs the San Antonio Spurs (February 6, 8)

This Texas duel features the brightest prospects in the league right now–Flagg and Wemby. The Mavericks are still depleted without AD and Kyrie, and key big men Dereck Lively II and PJ Washington are also out. In their previous match-up, Victor Wembanyama dropped 40 points and 15 rebounds with Davis mainly guarding him (quite well). The Spurs are expected to win these contests.

Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:

Captain: Cooper Flagg

Vice Captain: Victor Wembanyama

Key picks: Naji Marshall, D’Aaron Fox, Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Max Christie, Dylan Harper
