Filipino Footballer Diego Aspiras Joins Barcelona City FC in Spain

Barcelona, Spain – Rising Filipino football talent Diego Aspiras has taken a significant step in his career after joining Barcelona City FC, a club based in Spain, under the mentorship of renowned coach Ramon Tribulietx.

Aspiras, who previously played under Coach Tribulietx during his stint at United City FC in the Philippines, was personally invited to join the Spanish club. He will be competing in a league that runs until mid-June, with the finals scheduled for June 15 should the team advance.

“This is an unbelievable opportunity that not many people get to have,” Aspiras shared. “Being around top players who are hungry and driven just brings out the best in me. As well as being under the guidance of an incredible coach like Coach Ramon is something that is incredibly valuable in terms of my growth in every aspect. This opportunity is something that I truly look forward to pursuing and I am excited to see what the team can accomplish.”

Barcelona City FC features a uniquely diverse roster, with players coming from all over the globe—including Mexico, Tunisia, the United States, Senegal, and Spain. “Almost everyone is from a different country,” Aspiras noted.

More than a personal milestone, Aspiras believes his journey holds significance for Philippine football.

“This is important for PH football because it gets the country international exposure,” he said. “Being here allows me to represent the nation and show them that Filipinos can compete around the world and do have the quality to play and stand out at the international level. Not just that, but this opportunity allows me to play in Europe—which has always been a dream of mine. The ability to compete in one of the best countries in the world for football, like Spain, allows me to grow and become the best version of myself.”

Aspiras’ presence in Spain signals a growing footprint of Filipino football talent in the international scene and serves as an inspiration to young players back home who dream of going global.
