Mark Parks: The Chill Bulldog with Big Energy
There’s a certain calm that surrounds Mark Parks — a steady, smooth kind of confidence that fits right in with the NU Bulldogs’ resurgence.
The third-year swingman (SF/SG) grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, but basketball was in his blood long before he made his way to the UAAP.
“My grandma gave me a basketball when I was four,” Mark says. “Ever since then, I fell in love with the game.”
That love has taken Mark from U.S. gyms to collegiate hardwood in Manila, where he’s now carving his own path, not as “Ray Parks’ brother,” but as his own name, his own energy, and his own story.
Parks’ pregame calm — a prayer or a short meditation — is what keeps him centered.
Once he steps on the court, though, the vibe flips.
His proudest moment? Blocking a shot and sinking a corner three as soon as he checked in.
“That was big for me,” he says with a grin.
Off the court, Mark keeps it chill: sweats, hoodie, maybe a coffee in hand. He’s got the dry humor, the smooth demeanor, and yes — he’s aware the “funny darkskin guy” label has stuck. Between his piano skills, anime references, and that signature low-key charm, Mark Parks is the kind of guy who doesn’t try to be magnetic.
He just is.
