Gilas-Eligible Sanderson Commits to NCAA D1 Louisiana Tech
James Sanderson, a Filipino-American guard in the Class of 2026, has announced his commitment to Louisiana Tech, marking a milestone in his rising basketball career.
The 6-foot-1 point guard gives the Bulldogs a playmaker with a strong prep resume and a growing national profile.
Sanderson most recently played at New Hampton School in New Hampshire. He transferred there after beginning his high school career in Texas, where he played for Frisco Emerson High School. The move to New England provided him with increased exposure and higher-level competition, helping accelerate his recruitment.
A hooper with a natural feel for the game, Sanderson is a pass-first guard who can control tempo, defend perimeter positions, and score when needed.
Louisiana Tech entered the picture after Sanderson gained traction on the national recruiting circuit, which also included interest from Division I programs earlier in his recruitment.
Sanderson is Filipino-American through his mother and holds a Philippine passport, which he obtained before turning 16 years old.
That makes him eligible to represent the Philippines in FIBA competition, and he has been recognized within the Filipino basketball community as a potential future Gilas Pilipinas prospect.
His background and eligibility add another layer of interest to his career as he continues to develop at the collegiate level.
With his college decision now made, Sanderson can shift his focus to finishing his prep career strong and preparing for the transition to Division I basketball.
