Joaquin Wagan Stays in San Beda Program

Joaquin Wagan is staying home.

The San Beda Red Cubs standout has committed to the San Beda Red Lions’ college basketball program, his manager, Anthony Brodett of Phenom Sports Management, confirmed to ALL-STAR Magazine.

Wagan, who has developed within the San Beda High School system, will move up to the Red Lions with five full years of collegiate eligibility beginning NCAA Season 102 this year. His commitment gives San Beda another homegrown piece to build around as the program continues to strengthen its long-term pipeline from the Red Cubs to the Red Lions.

A 19-year-old standing 5-foot-11, Wagan has been one of the recognizable names from the Red Cubs’ recent campaigns. In NCAA Season 101, he showed his ability to impact the game beyond scoring when he tallied 11 assists, six rebounds, four points, and two steals in San Beda’s win over Benilde-LSGH.

Wagan has also been part of the Phenom Sports Management circle and was included in Phenom Bluefire’s NBTC 2026 roster.

For the Red Lions, Wagan’s commitment represents continuity. San Beda has long valued players who understand the culture early, and Wagan’s familiarity with the school, the system, and the pressure of wearing red should help ease his transition into the seniors division.

With five years of eligibility ahead of him, Wagan now has time to grow into a bigger role at the collegiate level. His playmaking instincts, experience with the Red Cubs, and background under Phenom give San Beda another young guard to develop as the Red Lions prepare for their NCAA title defense.
