The Western Conference Semifinals
The Western conference semifinals promise a lot of hype and superstar value. Will things go as expected, or are we going to be treated with nice, juicy upsets?
Match 1: The Oklahoma City Thunder vs the Los Angeles Lakers
The Thunder lead the series 2-0.
The defending champs against the king–this match-up would have been a really interesting one if both teams are operating at full capacity. Unbelievably, LeBron is still the Lakers’ best player stat-wise, but he really needs his teammates to step up and score. The Thunder have been amazing defensively, and there is no competing with the depth of their roster (they are +18 with Shai on the bench). At this point, it is likely that the Lakers will be swept unless a miracle happens and Luka Doncic comes back and drops 50 point games like he used to.
Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:
Captain: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Vice Captain: Chet Holmgren
Key picks: LeBron James, Austin Reaves, Ajay Mitchell, Jared McCain, Deandre Ayton
Match 2: The San Antonio Spurs vs the Minnesota Timberwolves
The series is tied 1-1.
The Timberwolves stole game one away from the Spurs with a two-point victory. This pissed off the entire San Antonio faithful, including Gregg Popovich, who reportedly studied film with the players and the coaching staff prior to the second game. The result–the Spurs dragging the Wolves through the mud with a 38 point blow-out. At one point, the lead ballooned to 47, and the Timberwolves seemed to have no answers for San Antonio’s pace and tenacity (and shooting too). Game 3 is in Minnesota, and it would be really interesting to see how the Wolves adjust.
Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:
Captain: Victor Wembanyama
Vice Captain: Stephon Castle
Key picks: Dylan Harper, Devin Vassell, Rudy Gobert, Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle
