Filipinas Return to Asian Games With World Cup in Sight

The Filipinas are back on the Asian Games stage.

The Philippine Women’s National Football Team will make its second straight Asian Games appearance in Nagoya, Japan, following a quarterfinal finish in Hangzhou in 2023. The campaign comes just months after the Filipinas secured their second consecutive FIFA Women’s World Cup appea.

The Filipinas face a tough Group G featuring China, Uzbekistan, and Hong Kong, with their campaign beginning against Uzbekistan on September 14.

However, the squad will look different from the team that has featured prominently in recent international competitions. With the Asian Games falling outside the FIFA window, several key players will be unavailable, including Jessika Cowart, Sara Eggesvik, Chandler McDaniel, Alexa Pino, Jael-Marie Guy, Ariana Markey, and Quinley Quezada.

Head coach Mark Torcaso will instead have the opportunity to assess the depth of his squad ahead of the 2027 World Cup.
