The Portland Trailblazers had an interesting last year.
Deni Avdija had a breakout season. Donovan Clingan is turning out to be an interior defensive anchor. Shaedon Sharpe had hot streaks. Scoot Henderson had streaks of brilliance too. Jrue Holiday provides the veteran defensive smarts.
They only fell to Victor Wembanyama and the mighty San Antonio Spurs, but they certainly put up a fight–bloody noses, scratches and all.
The Blazers certainly had a very intriguing offseason. They let Jerami Grant, Matisse Thybulle, and Kris Murray go. They signed Ja Morant–the former Memphis star who got into a lot of on-court shenanigans before suffering an injury last year.
Add a returning Damian Lillard to the lineup, and Portland suddenly has an overabundance of ball handlers–Lillard, Morant, Sharpe, Avdija, Scoot, and Holiday are all ball-handlers. Can this turn into a potential issue in the coming season?
The Blazers need all the help they can get from the players. The Northwest division is insane–the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Denver Nuggets, and the revamped Minnesota Timberwolves are all championship contenders.
