SpiderMilez Sets the Record Straight on ‘Beef’ With Super Yoshi

Cold stares. Heated exchanges. Fist bumps that somehow feel heavier than they should. That’s what makes a rivalry worth watching.

Brian “SpiderMilez” Santos returned home from Thailand to join AP Bren, setting up a long-awaited reunion with old rival Czedrick “Super Yoshi” Romero of ONIC Philippines. But their paths never crossed as expected.

Although fans were looking forward to seeing their rivalry unfold once again when AP Bren faced ONIC Philippines last Sunday, the highly anticipated clash proved anticlimactic as Super Yoshi was momentarily benched.

“Medyo [disappointed]. Madami kasi nag-aabang noong match namin and na-miss ko siyang makatapat, kasi ang tagal kong nawala dito sa PH,” SpiderMilez told ALL-STAR.

Despite his disappointment, SpiderMilez cleared the air about his “beef” with Super Yoshi while making it clear that he is not letting his rival off the hook just yet.

How the SpiderMilez-Super Yoshi Beef Started

Their rivalry was once far more personal.

The SpiderMilez-Super Yoshi beef began with their encounters in ranked games. Whenever SpiderMilez lost, Super Yoshi would post their match results and eventually mock them through his captions.

While Super Yoshi appeared to treat it as banter, SpiderMilez took the jabs to heart.

The tension between the two became apparent during Week 6 of MPL PH Season 12, when SpiderMilez gave Super Yoshi a cold stare in their dugout after they won 2-0 in their matchup.

However, the beef didn’t stop there even after winning the match.

In Season 13, SpiderMilez once again gave a cold stare while intentionally disregarding Super Yoshi’s fist bump before the TNC-Minana EVOS match in Week 4.

That made another SpiderMilez-Super Yoshi matchup worth watching.

Except it never came.

SpiderMilez Says the Beef With Super Yoshi Is Over

Still, the bigger surprise came when SpiderMilez was asked where he and Super Yoshi stand now.

“Actually, okay na kami noon. Last year pa,” he revealed.

The rivalry that once played out through ranked games, staredowns, and intentionally missed fist bumps had apparently been left behind.

The two had even spent time together outside the competitive scene, with SpiderMilez recalling a Tagaytay trip with Super Yoshi, Flap and the rest of the group.

Super Yoshi’s absence naturally raised questions, especially after SpiderMilez had won their last three meetings. 

But according to ONIC PH coach Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel, Super Yoshi’s absence had nothing to do with avoiding SpiderMilez.

“For me, hindi naman naging mahirap yung naging adjustment in Brusko kasi matagal na rin naman nyang kasama ‘yung mga ‘yon (ONIC PH), mas matagal niya pa ngang nakasama kaysa sa akin. Nasa mood lang talaga siya ngayon kaya siya yung pinalaro namin,” Pheww explained during the post-match interview.

So the rematch between the two will have to wait.

And if the upcoming MPL PH Season 18 playoffs eventually put the two on opposite sides again, SpiderMilez has no plans on bringing back the old drama.

“Wala naman [ako masasabi], ayoko magyabang. Goodluck na lang siguro,” SpiderMilez said.

The beef is over. The rivalry, however, might not be.
