Carlos Yulo gets off to solid start in Paris Olympics

Filipino Olympian Carlos Yulo advanced the final round of three events in the 2024 Paris Olympics Men’s Artistic Gymnastic competition following an impressive showing in the qualification round on Saturday, July 27.

The 24-year-old from Malate, Manila scored the following in each apparatus:

Floor Exercise: 14.766 (2nd)

Pommel Horse: 13.066 (40th)

Rings: 13.00 (49th)

Vault: 14.683 (6th)

Parallel Bars: 14.533 (19th)

Horizontal Bar: 13.466 (27th)

His All-Around score is 83.631, which ranks 9th after three subdivisions in artistic gymnastics. The top 8 of each apparatus will advance to the final round while the top 24 of the all-around standings will vie for gold. Only two representatives per nation can advance past the qualification round.

Yulo previously won World Championship gold medals in 2019 (Floor Exercise) and 2021 (Vault).
