Northport has signed its second-round selection from the 2024 PBA Draft Evan Nelle to a two-year contract, the player’s agent Charlie Dy confirmed to ALL-STAR Magazine on Friday, July 19.

Nelle, who was DLSU’s starting point guard in their title quest of UAAP Season 86, was surprisingly taken 14th overall in the draft last Sunday held in Makati, but has now secured a home team in Asia’s oldest basketball league for the foreseeable future.

An NCAA and UAAP champion, Nelle proved himself as one of college basketball’s most reliable long-range shootets and playmaking options during his time with both the San Beda Red Lions and DLSU Green Archers. He also had a handful of clutch moments which came in handy as DLSU defeated UP in last UAAP season’s finals.

Nelle joins a Northport team with depth at the guard rotation following their recent acquisition of Magnolia’s Jio Jalalon and Abu Tratter for Zavier Lucero. Likewise to his former NCAA rival Fran Yu, Nelle has a chance to play alongside Jalalon or back him up.

Given the track record of success in his career, Nelle has the a good opportunity to become a reliable PBA veteran in the future.
