Former Mapua Recruit Tucker Molina Joins Abra Weavers in MPBL
Tucker Molina has taken the next step in his basketball journey after signing a two-year contract with the Abra Weavers in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
The move marks the start of Molina’s professional career in the Philippines and signals a clear shift from the collegiate path he was previously set to take.
Molina was earlier expected to suit up for the Mapúa Cardinals, but plans changed following the departure of head coach Randy Alcantara. With the leadership situation at Mapúa in flux, Molina ultimately decided to move on and reassess his options, opening the door to both collegiate and professional opportunities.
Several top collegiate programs expressed strong interest in keeping Molina in the college ranks. De La Salle Green Archers and the UP Fighting Maroons were both reported to be actively recruiting the versatile forward, viewing him as a potential impact player with size, mobility, and shooting touch.
Despite those options, Tucker chose a different route, prioritizing immediate professional experience over extended college development.
By committing to Abra, Molina positions himself in a league known for its physicality, regional pride, and growing visibility. The MPBL has become a proving ground for young talents and a platform for players aiming to establish themselves early in their careers. For Abra, the signing adds a skilled and motivated newcomer to the roster, while for Molina, it represents a decisive step toward building his professional résumé.
The two-year deal gives both sides stability and time to grow together, with Molina expected to play a meaningful role as he adjusts to the demands of the pro game.
