Former UE Red Warrior Gjerard Wilson declares for PBA Draft
Former University of the East guard Gjerard Wilson has officially declared for the 2025 PBA Draft, according to his agent Marvin Espiritu of EMBM. The announcement comes after Wilson wrapped up his stint with the UE Red Warriors in UAAP Season 87, marking a full-circle moment in his basketball journey.
Wilson averaged 4.2 points per game on 40 percent shooting from the field in Season 87, serving as a steady backcourt presence for a young Red Warriors team in transition. While his counting stats in the UAAP remained modest, he made a significant impact in key moments — most notably scoring 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting in UE’s comeback win over FEU back in Season 86.
Originally from the United States, Wilson previously played for Lemoyne–Owen College in Memphis, where he competed in NCAA Division II and earned All-SIAC Second Team honors in the 2022–23 season. He transferred to UE for his final years of eligibility, aiming to prove himself on the UAAP stage despite his first stint being cut short by a shoulder injury.
Season 87 marked a return to form for Wilson, who had to overcome that injury and reestablish himself as a contributor in a new-look rotation. With lead guard Rey Remogat moving on, Wilson stepped into a leadership role and shared the backcourt with emerging talents like Ethan Galang, Rain Maga, Wello Lingolingo, and Nico Mulingtapang. His experience and composure helped anchor UE through the grind of the season.
Now looking to take the next step, Wilson joins a growing list of UAAP standouts entering the 2025 PBA Draft. With a track record that spans both U.S. collegiate basketball and the UAAP, Wilson brings a blend of maturity, two-way effort, and professional experience to the table.
