Grit and Motivation Fuel Bea Bonafe in Quarterfinals Match

The Akari Chargers secured a thrilling knockout win against the Petro Gazz Angels, with Bea Bonafe standing out as the sole setter. With this win, she mentioned grit and motivation as fuel to her fire.

Grit in Being Akari’s Sole Setter

Bea has been training over a month as Akari’s only setter. “Sobrang hirap po kaya I couldn’t help but be emotional with our win,” she admitted, highlighting the challenge she faced.

Support from teammates and coaches fueled her performance. “All of my teammates and my coaches, they all poured me with love and motivation. That’s why I was able to play properly despite being the only setter.”

Motivation from Family

Behind her strength was a special motivation. There was a ‘special guest’ inside the PhilSports Arena supporting Bea and her team.

Bea revealed, “My Dad, who is an OFW, went home to watch me,”

adding that it is her father’s first time watching her with her new team, and ultimately, the first time this whole conference.

She exclusively told ALL-STAR, “..but I surprised him by not telling him that I will be in the first 6, this game is actually for him.”

Looking ahead to the quarterfinals against Cignal HD Spikers, Bea remains focused.

“I know the pressure is there but pressure is a privilege, and even so, it is lessened with my coaches and teammates having my back.”

This mindset reflects Bea’s growing confidence and leadership on the court.

As Akari prepares for their 4 PM quarterfinal clash, Bea Bonafe stands empowered—a symbol of resilience and determination ready to lead her team forward.

Her ability to handle pressure will be vital for Akari’s push into the semifinals.
