Ian Cuajao Departs San Sebastián, Commits to San Beda

Ian Cuajao is headed to Mendiola.

According to his manager, Anthony Brodett of Phenom Sports Management, the promising guard has committed to the San Beda Red Lions and will begin the next chapter of his collegiate career with the NCAA powerhouse. Cuajao will serve one year of residency before suiting up for three full seasons starting in Season 103 in 2027.

The move comes after Cuajao’s stint with San Sebastian, where he emerged as one of the more intriguing young guards in NCAA Season 101. A product of Emilio Aguinaldo College’s juniors program, Cuajao first made headlines in the grassroots and high school scene, earning recognition in the NBTC ranks.

He carried that confidence into the seniors division. In his rookie campaign with the Golden Stags, Cuajao showed flashes of scoring punch and long-range accuracy, including standout performances that highlighted his ability to heat up from beyond the arc.

Cuajao’s collegiate journey is now set for a reset with San Beda. The one-year residency will allow him to immerse himself in the Red Lions’ system, sharpen his decision-making, and build chemistry with his new teammates, including former San Sebastián teammate Jhuniel Dela Rama. For a program known for discipline, structure, and championship expectations, the development year could prove crucial in maximizing his potential.

Brodett confirmed the commitment and hinted that Cuajao may not be the only Phenom Sports Management client making his way to Mendiola. The veteran agent teased that other players under his representation are also in the works for San Beda, a development that could further strengthen ties between the program and his camp in the coming seasons.

With three full years of eligibility beginning Season 103 in 2027, Cuajao gives San Beda a long-term backcourt piece who already has NCAA experience under his belt. For the Red Lions, it is an investment in a guard who has shown he can score in bursts and rise to the moment. For Cuajao, it is a calculated move toward a system built on tradition and title contention.
