Joaquin Ludovice Commits to La Salle in Major UAAP Development

Joaquin Ludovice is set to continue his basketball career with the De La Salle Green Archers, marking a significant turn in the recruitment of one of the more experienced guards from the Philippine high school ranks.

The commitment, which was shared to this publication from a source who chose to remain anonymous, gives La Salle a young guard with national youth team experience, UAAP juniors pedigree, and a reputation for scoring and playmaking.

Ludovice had been associated with University of Santo Tomas after playing for the Tiger Cubs under champion coach Manu Inigo, and earlier indications pointed to a possible move up to the Growling Tigers. His decision to commit to La Salle now reshapes that path and adds another notable name to the Green Archers’ long-term backcourt plans.

The 5-foot-11 guard will have five years of eligibility with La Salle beginning UAAP Season 90 in 2027.

Ludovice has represented the Philippines in youth competition and has been part of the Gilas Pilipinas Youth program. He suited up in major age-group tournaments, including the FIBA U16 Asian Championship, the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup, and the FIBA U18 Asia Cup cycle.

At the high school level, Ludovice played for UST after previously spending time with San Beda. With the Tiger Cubs, he became a key backcourt figure and was part of the program’s rejuvenation, including its UAAP Season 87 championship run. In Season 88, he took on a larger offensive role for UST, averaging double figures while also contributing as a passer and floor organizer.

His final stretch with the Tiger Cubs also included strong performances in 3×3 and NBTC competition.

According to a source, Ludovice chose to commit to DLSU over UST because he felt the former’s plan and depth was better suited for his development as a guard in the collegiate level. Ludovice owes a great deal of gratitude towards Inigo and UST for helping make him the player he is today.

For La Salle, the move fits a broader effort to keep adding high-level young talent around an already competitive collegiate program. Ludovice may not immediately walk into a major role, especially given the Green Archers’ depth and the adjustment required at the seniors level. But his profile gives the program another developmental guard who can pressure defenses, create off the dribble, and grow into a steadier playmaking role.

Ludovice is still completing his high school education.

Still, the development is a meaningful recruiting win for the Green Archers. Ludovice brings experience, name recognition, and a competitive background shaped by UST, San Beda, Gilas Youth, and international tournaments. For the player, the move opens a new chapter in a program with championship expectations and a deep guard tradition.
