The Abra Weavers have bolstered their roster with the addition of former De La Salle Green Archer Joshua David, team manager Chris Conwi confirmed to ALL-STAR Magazine. This move comes as David transitions from a successful collegiate career to the professional ranks, with an eye on joining the PBA in 2025, sources reveal.
David, 25, recently concluded his stint in UAAP Season 87, where he ranked among the top 10 in the MVP race won by teammate Kevin Quiambao. He posted averages of 6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1 steal per game while shooting 32% from beyond the arc. Despite La Salle’s Finals defeat in Season 87, David’s standout play throughout their campaign, particularly his ability to contribute in all facets of the game, cemented his reputation as a reliable and versatile talent.
His collegiate career was highlighted by a pivotal role in De La Salle’s UAAP Season 86 championship run. David’s clutch shooting, especially in Game 2 of the finals, proved instrumental in securing the title. It was moments like those that displayed his composure under pressure and his knack for delivering when it mattered most.
Joining the Weavers in the MPBL marks the next chapter of David’s basketball journey. He isn’t the only significant addition to Abra’s lineup; the team also signed former UE Red Warrior Jack Cruz-Dumont and Filipino-foreigner Kascius Small-Martin. Both players bring their unique skill sets, adding depth and talent to a roster that aspires to compete at the highest level in the MPBL.
The Weavers’ acquisitions signal their intent to make waves in the upcoming season, with David expected to play a key role in their campaign. His experience in high-stakes games, combined with his all-around abilities, will benefit Abra as they aim for success in the league.
In other MPBL news, former Arellano and EAC guard Marwin Taywan was spotted at a Rizal practice, fueling speculation of his potential addition to their lineup.
As David takes this significant step in his career, fans will be eager to see how his skills translate to the professional stage – and whether this move will bring him closer to achieving his ultimate dream of playing in the PBA.
