Olympics: Carlos Yulo wins gold in floor exercise final

The Philippines has its first medalist in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Carlos Yulo won a gold medal in the men’s artistic gymnastics floor exercise final on Saturday, August 3.
Yulo had a score of 15.00 following a tremendous performance, garnering 6.6 for difficulty and 8.4 for execution.
His total edged out Artem Dolgopyat of Israel (14.966) and Jake Jarman of Great Britain (14.933), who came in for the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

This is the 24-year-old Yulo’s first gold medal in artistic gymnastics and he will have an opportunity to win another gold in the Vault apparatus finals on Sunday, August 4. It is also the Philippines’ first gold medal victory since Hidilyn Diaz in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
Carlos Yulo is only the 15th medalist from the Philippines in the history of the Summer Olympics. And only the second to win gold after Diaz.
