UAAP Rookie Profile: Veejay Pre of the FEU Tamaraws
Coming into the season, VJ Pre had eyes glued on him. Fans and players alike expect him to show all that it takes to be Rookie of the Year. Despite this pressure, Veejay admits to having a different goal.
Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Veejay: Hi, I’m Francis Veejay Pre. I’m 19 years old. I’m from Floridablanca, Pampanga, and I play for FEU. My position is forward.
Q: How tall are you?
Veejay: I’m 6’5.
Q: And what’s your foot size?
Veejay: 14 po.
Q: And what’s your favorite kicks?
Veejay: Harden 7 and Sabrina 1.
Q: If you had the chance to describe yourself in one word, what would it be?
Veejay: Mabait.
Q: Any fun facts or hidden talents that you want your fans to know?
Veejay: Magaling ako sumayaw, pero konti lang.
Q: Is there any song that you have been playing on repeat?
Veejay: God’s Plan by Drake.
Q: Diving a little into romance, can you share with us your ideal first date?
Veejay: Just getting to know each other.
Q: Do you have a girlfriend?
Veejay: Wala po.
Q: Who inspires you in life?
Veejay: My family, especially my parents po.
Q: What’s your jersey number?
Veejay: 51 po.
Q: What’s the story behind that?
Veejay: Actually number 15 talaga ako, pero may number 15 na sa team ko, so binaliktad ko lang. Reason is 15 kasi birthday ng mama ko, papa ko, at lolo at lola ko, and 15 years old din ako nung nag-focus ako sa basketball at kinuha ako ng FEU.
Q: So it’s a very sentimental number?
Veejay: Opo.
Q: Who do you think is your GOAT?
Veejay: Sa lahat? Siguro si LeBron James tsaka papa ko.
Q: Which UAAP Team are you most excited to go against?
Veejay: La Salle kasi ando’n ‘yong idol ko si Kevin Quiambao.
Q: Apart from yourself, who do you think might win Rookie of the Year?
Veejay: Siguro, my teammate, si Janrey Pasaol.
Q: Everyone else has been saying you’ll win Rookie of the Year. How do you feel about that?
Veejay: ‘Di ko pa po nilolook up ‘yon eh, kasi main goal ko po is makabalik sa Final 4. Bonus na lang po kung makuha ko ‘yon.
Q: If you’re a pizza topping, what would you be and why?
Veejay: Ketchup, para laging ando’n.
