UAAP Rookie Profile: Jacob Bayla of the UP Fighting Maroons

UP rookie Jacob Bayla talked to ALL-STAR and shared a few facts about his likings–from his favorite kicks to his GOAT. Bayla also described himself as a ‘chill’ person, and his ideal first date surely seems that way, too.

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Jacob: Hi guys, my name is Jacob Bayla. I’m 18 years old. I’m from Los Angeles, California and I’m a guard for the UP Fighting Maroons.

Q: Can you also share your height and your foot size?

Jacob: I’m 6-foot-5 and I’m size 13 shoes.

Q: And what are your favorite kicks?

Jacob: I like to go Jordans and any Nike shoes.

Q: What’s one word to describe yourself?

Jacob: I’m a chill person.

Q: Outside of basketball, do you have any other hobbies?

Jacob: I like to go swimming, go to the beach, I like to hang out with friends, and just like travel and eat good food. 

Q: Any fun fact or hidden talent you want to share with your fans?

Jacob: Fun fact about me is I like to sing, actually. Just in the shower and stuff. I like to go swimming, I like to hang out with my friends.

Q: What song do you currently listen to on repeat?

Jacob: Sining by.. what’s his name?  Dio-something.

Q: Let’s dive a little into love talks. What is your ideal first date?

Jacob: My ideal first date, we’ll just chill at the beach, grab some food, and hang out and just talk.

Q: Do you currently have a girlfriend?

Jacob: I don’t.

Q: Who are your inspirations in life?

Jacob: Definitely God first, and then my family.

Q: What’s your jersey number?

Jacob: My jersey number is number 8.

Q: Any story behind that?

Jacob: First off, it was my Lolo’s number, and it just became a family tradition ever since, and then also Kobe Bryant.

Q: So would you say Kobe is your GOAT?

Jacob: Yeah, that’s right.

Q: Which UAAP Team are you most excited to go against? 

Jacob: De La Salle, because they were the champions last year.

Q: Apart from yourself, who do you think might win Rookie of the Year?

Jacob: Veejay Pre. He’s very good, you know, he’s improved a lot since the last time I met him. He’s been doing great things.

Q: If you’re a pizza topping, what would you be and why?

Jacob: Pineapple. I love pineapple.
