Daily Fantasy and HOOPBUS Turn Manila Court Into an Intergenerational Basketball Hub

Daily Fantasy, the Philippines’ first officially licensed fantasy sports provider, has brought together about 100 grandparents and their grandchildren for a day of basketball and community building through the “Intergenerational Basketball” program in partnership with HOOPBUS, a global non-profit organization uplifting communities through basketball.

Daily Fantasy and HOOPBUS gave PHVORA Basketball Court in Manila, Las piñas, a makeover as well as hosted 3×3 games and free throw shooting sessions with former Gilas Pilipinas and TNT Tropang 5G head coach Chot Reyes.

“Today felt new and fun—a refreshing experience where I could connect with both the young and the young at heart,” said Reyes. Reyes also revealed Jimmy Alapag, Allan Caidic, Alvin Patrimonio, Danny Seigle, and Jun Mar Fajardo as his top five players of all-time.

The initiative aims to utilize basketball to connect generations and uplift local communities in the Philippines.

“At Daily Fantasy, our mission goes beyond the digital court, as we believe in the real power of sports to bring generations together and invest in the communities that make Philippine basketball special,” said Jeff Chao, Business Development Manager of Daily Fantasy.

Originating in Los Angeles, USA, HOOPBUS is a grassroots passion project that uses basketball to foster cultural connection and drive social impact. It later launched its local counterpart, HoopJeep, which focuses on area beautification through court refurbishments, resource distribution, and youth programming.

During the event, Daily Fantasy also launched its “Play With Friends” referral program, encouraging users to share the excitement of fantasy sports with friends. Successful referrals will be awarded 100 coins for both the inviter and the invitee, providing them with extra entry credits to participate in upcoming contests and start competing immediately.
