Rookie Jonna Perdido Takes Valuable Lessons From 2026 PVL Invitational Stint

Jonna Perdido did not let her status as one of Farm Fresh’s youngest players limit her, taking on every role entrusted to her during the 2026 PVL Invitational and using each opportunity to learn and grow ahead of the All-Filipino Conference.

Perdido played a key role in Farm Fresh’s final game of the tournament, scoring 13 points as the Foxies swept Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, 25-10, 25-15, 25-15, on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Trisha Tubu and Ces Molina paced the Foxies with 14 points apiece, while Ria Meneses added 11 points, including four blocks. Alohi Robins-Hardy orchestrated the offense with 12 excellent sets and chipped in two points.

The victory gave Farm Fresh its second win of the Invitational—both coming against the Vietnamese guest team—as the Foxies finished the preliminary round with a 1-4 record.

For Perdido, however, the campaign provided valuable experience that she hopes to carry into the next conference.

The sixth overall pick in the 2026 PVL Draft, Perdido was given opportunities in different roles, including a stint as libero during the preliminary round. 

That experience helped her become more confident in her passing and more willing to take initiative on the court.

Playing in a defensive position pushed Perdido to trust her instincts, from being an outside hitter to libero.

She embraced the challenge, knowing that every opportunity could help accelerate her development as a professional player.

“Dito ko po nakukuha ‘yung kumpiyansa ko, lalo na noong nag-libero ako. So mas naging aggressive ako sa pagpasa,” Perdido explained. 

Much of that growth, she credited to Farm Fresh head coach Koji Sato and the system he has built around the team.

Perdido appreciates the trust Sato has placed in her, particularly in situations where she was asked to step up during crucial stretches of matches.

Rather than overthinking those moments, she learned to commit to her role and trust the work she had put in during training.

That confidence is something Perdido wants to bring with her into the All-Filipino Conference.

With the Invitational now behind them, the young Foxie is looking forward to another opportunity to show what she can do.

“I’m grateful sa opportunity and playing time na binigay ni Coach Koji sa akin. Sana sa All-Filipino, ita-try ko na may matutuha  pa at pag-iigihan ko pa,” Perdido said.

There is still plenty of work ahead for the rookie, but the Invitational gave her a glimpse of what she can become.

For Perdido, the next step is simple: stay patient, keep working, and continue building on the confidence she gained.

“Very grateful po ako kasi itong Invitational, madadala ko siya sa All-Filipino ‘yung experience ko. Kailangan ko pang maging matiyaga sa training para mailabas ko pa kung ano ‘yung kakayahan ko as a player,” she expressed.
