LeBron James: Still the King at 41?
The King is playing his NBA record 23rd season.
During the 24-25 season, he averaged 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists on 51.3% shooting (almost 38% from downtown). He has played 70 out of 82 regular season games. He is still a key playmaker, and has all-around solid contributions to the offense.
At 41 years old.
Will LeBron be a good fantasy pickup? It depends.
This is uncharted territory for the league. This is the first time that someone, who is in his 23rd season, could still play so well and produce. Yet, it is hard to ignore the fact that it is indeed his 23rd season–Father Time catches up with everyone, no matter how many millions of dollars go to state-of-the-art summer rehab. But then again, the King hasn’t had any major career-threatening injuries. He has proven that he could stay healthy.
There is also the new-look Lakers to consider–a “ripped” Luka Magic, AR15, and the arrival of promising center Deandre Ayton (and spark plug Lake LaRavia, formerly a Sacramento King). Corner threat Rui Hachimura is still with LA. If they click, Lebron the offense facilitator could have good numbers this year.
For Daily Fantasy Players: HOT! An available and healthy LeBron James is always a good pick-up, and if the match-up is good, he can even be picked as a vice captain of your squad. His hard work and consistency are too great to ignore.
For Traditional Fantasy Players: MID! Pick him, but probably not in the first or second round of the draft. Maybe in the third round. There are better options (at the guard or center positions) who could produce more and could be your key producers–Jokic, SGA, Giannis, etc. But if you are a die-hard LeBron fan, by all means, pick the King!
