Daily Fantasy Week 21: Who is the MVP?

The NBA MVP race is on!

The best part of the NBA season’s second half are the marquee players putting on a show as their teams make a run for the playoffs.

Match 1: The Philadelphia 76ers vs the Detroit Pistons (March 12)

The Philadelphia 76ers, who are now in the middle of the standings, will face a tough test against the scrappy Detroit Pistons. The Sixers will be without Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, and possibly rookie standout VJ Edgecombe, which will make things difficult as they face the Pistons who are at full strength. But then again, the Pistons are in the midst of a 4-game losing streak, so it could be anybody’s game.

Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:

Captain: Cade Cunningham

Vice Captain: Jalen Duren

Key picks: VJ Edgecombe (if available), Isaiah Stewart, Tobias Harris, Paul George

Match 2: The Denver Nuggets vs the San Antonio Spurs (March 12)

The Denver Nuggets are still reeling from that SGA game winner, but the NBA schedule is unforgiving, as they are yet in front of an even stronger challenge. Wembanyama is having an amazing stretch of games, both statistically and otherwise, and many people believe that the Spurs are actually the league’s strongest team right now. However, Jokic is an MVP candidate, and the heart of a champion is not to be discounted by any means. This promises to be an exciting contest.

Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:

Captain: Victor Wembanyama

Vice Captain: Nikola Jokic

Key picks: Jamal Murray, D’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Aaron Gordon

Match 3: The Boston Celtics vs the Oklahoma City Thunder (March 12)

This potential NBA Finals matchup features two of the league’s fan favorite dynamic duos–Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown against Shai Gilgeous Alexander and Jalen Williams. Tatum has been great in his first games after returning from a long achilles injury-induced break. The Thunder are 9-1 in their last ten games, and are keeping firm control over the western conference standings. Shai is a strong contender for the MVP award, and deservedly so.

Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:

Captain: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Vice Captain: Jayson Tatum

Key picks: Jaylen Brown, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Payton Pritchard, Lu Dort

Match 4: The Denver Nuggets vs the Los Angeles Lakers (March 14)

Luka Doncic is another name that’s making rounds in the MVP race, and despite the Lakers’ internal struggles, the team remains in contention for a good spot in the playoffs. LeBron James may not play as he has issues with his elbow. Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets will be looking to exploit the lack of inside presence in the Laker defense. Unless De’Andre Ayton steps up, this game goes to the Nuggets.

Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:

Captain: Nikola Jokic

Vice Captain: Luka Doncic

Key picks: Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, LeBron James, Austin Reaves, Luke Kennard
