The Iconic Air Jordan 3 Retro ‘Black Cement’ Is Back
A long-time Jordan Brand staple emerges in the present, resurrecting the ever-popular Air Jordan 3 Retro in its original “Black Cement” palette. The original 1988 run consisted of three other colorways: “White Cement, Fire Red, and True Blue,” recognizable as Jordan’s go-to silhouette during the 1987-1988 regular season and playoffs, where they would bow out to the Detriot “Bad Boys” in the second round.
Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 3 was pivotal in extending His Airness’ tenure with Nike. Claiming his first Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, and All-NBA First Team honors in the same season, he established his “Air Jordan” moniker with the 3s on foot as he took off from the free-throw line during the 1998 Slam Dunk Contest, trouncing Atlanta Hawk highflier, Dominique Wilkins.
The Air Jordan 3 icon would receive several colorways and collaborations throughout the years, but the original “Black Cement” distinction is an arguable fan-favorite. Complementing Chicago Bulls’ red, white, and black hues, its mid-cut structure embraced Jordan’s shifty shot-creating play style, culminated by the birth of the Jumpman logo and elephant print throughout its upper—the first of its kind.
The Air Jordan 3 “Black Cement” is available for ₱11,295.00 at Foot Locker, Nike Park, TITAN, and select retailers nationwide.
