Fantasy Series #16: The Toronto Raptors

Will Kawhi Leonard’s arrival in Toronto change things for the Raptors this season? How will they fare against the other powerhouse teams in the East?

The Fantasy series looks at the featured team’s season statistical performance and explores offseason possibilities.

2025-2026 Key Season Stats

Kawhi Leonard – 28 points per game, 4.0 assists per game; 2 steals per game

Scottie Barnes – 18 points per game, 8 rebounds per game, 6.0 assists per game

RJ Barrett – 19.3 points per game, 5 rebounds per game

Last season, Toronto’s defense ranked 5th in the league. They pushed the Cleveland Cavaliers into a game 7, before bowing out of the playoffs.

Then the offseason came, and Kawhi Leonard is back in town. Then he almost wasn’t, thanks to that LA Clippers shenanigan.

But now, he’s really back in the north. How does he change things in Toronto?

Last season, the Raptors were quite deadly in transition offense, but had some trouble generating points from half-court sets. Kawhi Leonard, an excellent isolation player with an excellent midrange game fixes that.

A starting five of Kawhi, Quickley, Barrett, Barnes, and Poeltl looks intriguing.

Scottie Barnes got a lot of defensive attention last season, and still averaged almost 20 points per game. He can produce more points with Kawhi’s gravity this season.

Last year’s rookie Collin Murray-Boyles had a good defensive showing–averaging a steal and a block during the 7-game series with the Cavs. Murray-Boyles, Barnes, and Leonard have excellent switchability.

If Kawhi Leonard, who is in his 15th season,  is healthy to play most games, the Raptors should be fine.
