UST’s Nic Cabañero on His Adidas Favorites: AE 1 and Harden 7
Nic Cabañero stalks his prey through the grasslands with his trusted arsenal on foot. Whether it’s finding the most effective way to the basket in a split second or creating space for a jump shot down the stretch (contested or not, it’s probably going in), the King Tiger mirrors his game after his icons, LeBron James and Anthony Edwards, who continue dominating the NBA through their unique approaches to the sport.
Like Edwards, Cabañero has found a home with the Three-Stripes and does not appear to be leaving anytime soon. Throughout Season 87 of the UAAP, he donned several colorways of adidas’ AE 1 and Harden 7, albeit fitting given their similar play styles to the 21-year-old forward.

On an episode of Naveen Ganglani’s “The Navs Effect Podcast,” he spoke about the experience of suiting up in his favorite player’s signature pair—another factor in joining the German-based footwear manufacturer as one of their local ambassadors.
“Ako personally, gusto ko talaga yung AE 1. After LeBron, he’s (Anthony Edwards) my idol na eh, so that’s why I plan on staying with adidas until kailan.”
Alongside Growling Tiger backcourt resident Kyle Paranada, Cabañero joins a star-studded UAAP adidas roster with the likes of De La Salle University’s Kevin Quiambao and Mike Phillips, and their newest poster child, Far Eastern University’s Veejay Pre.
