Adamson Secures Commitments from Medina, Tumaneng
Adamson University’s men’s basketball program has scored a win in its recruitment efforts, securing the commitments of high school standouts Earl Medina and Jireh Tumaneng for the UAAP college division.
A source told me that both players from the Baby Falcons’ roster in Season 87 will be vying for a spot on the Soaring Falcons in the seniors’ division, marking a significant boost for the program.
This development is particularly crucial for Adamson, which struggled to retain its top graduating high school players last year despite winning the UAAP juniors’ championship. Unlike in 2024, when four key members of their title-winning squad opted to take their talents elsewhere, the Falcons have successfully locked in two of their promising prospects this time around.
Medina, a 6-foot-2 wing, was a workhorse for Adamson in the juniors’ division, logging an impressive 33 minutes per game in the elimination round. He averaged 11 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.1 steals, and 1.6 blocks while shooting 35% from the field. His all-around game and defensive tenacity will be a welcome addition to the Soaring Falcons’ perimeter rotation.
Tumaneng, a 6-foot-8 Filipino-Kiwi center, played a more limited role in the high school ranks, averaging 8 minutes, 3 points, and 2.4 rebounds per game while converting on 47% of his field-goal attempts. Despite his modest numbers, his size and potential make him a valuable long-term project for Adamson’s frontcourt.
With Medina’s versatility and Tumaneng’s interior presence, Adamson’s seniors’ squad gains two young talents who are already familiar with the system and culture of the program. Their decision to stay within the Adamson fold is a testament to the coaching staff’s ability to develop homegrown talent – a promising sign as the team looks to remain competitive in the ever-intense UAAP battlefield.
