Alas Pilipinas Women Bag Historic Silver at SEA V.Cup
The Alas Pilipinas Women claimed a breakthrough silver medal at the 2026 SEA V.Cup after defeating Indonesia in a thrilling four-set showdown, 25-13, 23-25, 25-19, 33-31, on Sunday in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Fresh off its first win over Vietnam in seven years, Alas survived eight set points from Indonesia in the fourth frame before closing out the match to secure the Philippines’ best-ever SEA V.Cup finish.
Leg 1 Best Opposite Spiker Alyssa Solomon powered Alas Women with 19 attack points, while Bella Belen and Eya Laure added 17 points each.
Indonesia reached its last set point at 31-30 following a quick hit from Chelsa Berliana Nurtomo.
Then Alas fought back with two straight points—a Solomon hit and Fifi Sharma’s kill block on Ersandrina Devega—before a drop-shot error from the same Indonesian hitter finally closed out the match.
Jia de Guzman also played a crucial role in orchestrating the Alas offense, finishing with 27 excellent sets and 4 points on 3 attacks and 1 block.
