Arvin Tolentino Signs with SK Knights in KBL

PBA star and basketball standout Arvin Tolentino has signed to join the SK Knights on a three-year deal in the Korean Basketball League (KBL), sources told me.

The team is expected to make its official announcement on Friday.

Following a breakout campaign with Northport in the PBA where his numbers in the Commissioner’s Cup conference – 23.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists a game – earned him the league’s Best Player honor, the 29-year-old who’s in the prime of his playing career is about to showcase his talent and potential against the best competitors South Korea basketball has to offer.

Tolentino will replace another standout Filipino baller in Juan Gomez De Liaño as SK’s Asian import. The former UP Fighting Maroon originally signed a three-year deal with SK and exercised his player option for the 2025-2026 season. A source said that both sides are in talks on how to amicably end their partnership, opening the door for Gomez De Liaño to possibly enlist for the 2025 PBA Draft.

This is a milestone for Tolentino, who became a basketball star as early as his high school career with San Beda, followed by impressive stints with Ateneo and then FEU in the UAAP. He’s turned into a professional star for NorthPort, highlighted by his standout performances over the last two years.

Tolentino appeared in two games for NorthPort in the current Philippine Cup conference before his contract expired at the end of April. He was open to staying with his PBA team but talks with KBL squads progressed, and he ultimately ended up a Knight.
