Ateneo Blue Eagles co-captain Chris Koon’s status is day-to-day after he sustained a sprained ankle during his team’s UAAP Season 87 debut against the UP Fighting Maroons last weekend at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Blue Eagles team manager Epok Quimpo told ALL-STAR Magazine that Koon’s recovery process will be monitored on a daily basis but he is likely out for Ateneo’s next game against UST on Wednesday, September 11, unless he makes an immediate recovery.
Koon, who is poised to have a career UAAP season in 2024 as Ateneo’s veteran standout, hurt his ankle in the first half of the Blue Eagles’ loss to the Fighting Maroons. He finished the game with 3 points in a little over 17 minutes of action.
The Blue Eagles stayed competitive with their Katipunan rivals until late in the second period, when UP pulled away and then maintained the lead for the remainder of the contest.
