Edward Dapadap Retires From Professional MLBB After Seven Years

“Abunjing,” “Mr. Consistent,” and “Agent Zero”—these are just some of the names that have become synonymous with three-time MPL and two-time M-Series champion Edward Jay “Edward” Dapadap.

After years of growth, triumphs, setbacks, and unforgettable moments, Edward is now ready to close the chapter on his career as an MLBB professional, leaving behind a legacy the community watched grow before its very eyes.

Edward Jay “Edward” Dapadap has parted ways with Aurora Gaming PH after three MPL seasons, capping his stint with the organization with an M7 World Championship title last January in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Aurora Gaming PH announced Edward’s departure on Tuesday evening and paid tribute to the veteran EXP laner with a 10-minute video that revisited the biggest achievements of his esports career and how the industry transformed his and his family’s lives.

A Boy With Nothing But a Dream
Long before he became a two-time world champion, Edward took a leap of faith, leaving his hometown in Bataan to pursue his dreams in esports.

At 15, Edward traveled alone to Metro Manila for the Juicy Legends tournament, navigating the unfamiliar city with a dying phone and a low-battery power bank just to chase a chance at becoming a professional player.

That leap of faith eventually changed his life.

Edward’s first major prize of ₱80,000 at Siklab Saya Olongapo was hardly spent on himself, with ₱60,000 going toward redeeming his grandmother’s jewelry and the rest toward buying himself a cellphone

Years later, his success in esports allowed him to give his parents something far more significant—a new home.

Their old house would often flood, prompting Edward’s grandmother to ask him to prioritize rebuilding it if he ever won enough money. When he eventually did, he made good on that promise.

A Legacy Built to Last
His journey also brought him two world championship titles, first with Blacklist International at M3 and then with Aurora at M7.

The latter carried special meaning for Edward after years without a world title. Aurora entered M7 as an underdog against the likes of Team Liquid, ONIC ID, and Selangor Red Giants, but emerged as world champions in Jakarta, giving Edward his second M-Series title.

Time to Choose Himself
But after seven years in the professional scene, Edward admitted that the grind had begun to take its toll.

The repetitive 12-hour routines, sacrifices, and time away from his family eventually led to burnout, making retirement a decision he had carefully considered for a long time.

“Gusto ko lang din magkaroon muna ng time sa na-miss ko dati sa sarili at sa pamilya. At a young age, nag-work agad ako eh,” Edward said.

After spending most of his youth in the professional scene, Edward now wants to slow things down, travel, and enjoy life away from the demands of esports.

Still, he leaves the scene with no regrets.

He considers his seven-year career, 3 MPL titles, two world titles, and the milestones he reached as achievements he will always treasure.

One Final Message
And as he closed the chapter on his professional career, Edward had one final message for the fans who stayed with him from his Blacklist days through his time with Aurora.

“Maybe this is the last time na makikita niyo akong wearing a pro jersey,” Edward said. “Pero sa lahat ng support niyo, I will carry it with me forever.”

The boy who once left Bataan with little more than a dream now walks away from the professional stage as a two-time world champion—with the freedom to finally spend time on the life he had put on hold.
