EXCLUSIVE: Vice President Yeb Reveals Plans for ONIC
Denver “Yeb” Miranda, former coach of ONIC Indonesia, has taken a monumental step forward in his esports career, recently being promoted to vice president of ONIC Esports. In this new role, Yeb oversees both ONIC Indonesia and ONIC Philippines, which says a lot about his influence and leadership in the industry.
In an interview with ALL-STAR, Yeb shared his reasons for accepting this position and his aspirations for ONIC.
A Move Rooted in Loyalty and Family
Yeb candidly admitted that his decision to transition from coach to VP was as much about personal matters as it was about professional growth. With his new role as VP, he’d have more time to spend with his family in the Philippines—a significant perk he’s never had as a coach.
“I’m not sure (why I was promoted) myself,” Yeb said with a smile. “But for me, one of the reasons (I was promoted) is I want to come home to the Philippines because my family is here. With the new arrangement, I’d be flying back and forth from the Philippines and Indonesia.”
But it’s not like Philippine esports teams did not reach out to Yeb.
“There were many teams who really worked hard to get you back in the Philippines, but what kept you in Onic or what kept you in Indonesia?” ALL-STAR asked Yeb.
“There were parties who reached out to me. I was under the impression they were interested, but I’m just not sure what happened in their talks with ONIC. As someone still under contract, we were just waiting,” Yeb explained.
The Vision for ONIC Esports
When asked about his plans as the new vice president, Yeb was understandably cautious yet optimistic.
“A lot! I’m not sure if I’m allowed to divulge, but of course, we want to improve the performance of the teams,” he stated.
His focus is clear: enhancing team performance and fostering a no-regrets mentality.
“Ang gusto ko lang, makapag-perform sila at maibigay lang nila ang lahat with no regrets,” he emphasized.
A Final Rallying Cry
As ONIC Philippines gears up for the M6 World Championships, Yeb left a powerful message for the team: “Good luck sa M6, kunin niyo na!”
