The FEU Tamaraws have fallen to a 0-5 standing after their close loss to the defending champion DLSU Green Archers. The game concluded at 68-62 on Wednesday, September 25, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
FEU Head Coach Sean Chambers shared after the game that he’s happy about the players’ performance in the match despite their defeat. The effort that they put into closing the gap was something he’s grateful for.
“I told the guys I hate losing more than I like winning, but I’m extremely happy with the way we performed today.”
He also mentioned that the adjustments that the players have been making will eventually lead to great outcomes, especially for the upcoming second round. In his words, the FEU Tamaraws will be the other UAAP teams’ problem soon enough.
“You’re starting to see our guys getting comfortable and comfortable. I truly believe when the second half of the season comes, we’re gonna be a problem. It’s going to take a little bit of time for them to get comfortable.”
The first-year head coach added:
“I don’t want to look too forward to the future, but we’re going to be a problem moving forward. I think everybody understands that when you have such a young group of guys, it is a process.”
Coach Chambers, the former multi-titled import for Alaska in the PBA, also mentioned that the Tamaraws have been adjusting beautifully to the triangle offense. He’s a hundred percent happy about the effort and performance of the team as well.
“The second half was beautiful, absolutely beautiful. But I know that it’s gonna take some success for them to be 100% all in, and we’re getting there. So I can’t be more happy with this group of guys in a lost game.”
The FEU Tamaraws will face the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Sunday, September 29, with the goal of attaining their first win.
