FEU wingman Cholo Anonuevo missed the Tamaraws’ third game of the UAAP season as he was dealing with an IT Band injury that is related to his recent recovery from an ACL injury.
Although he felt tightness in his knee which led to his absence, Anonuevo expects to be back soon for the now 0-3 Tams.
“It’s just my IT band was really tight and it was just from working out and supporting my other leg because I just came back from my ACL injury. It’s just compensating for the other leg and it’s just tightness and it’s nothing major, really. It’s fine right now. It’s getting better. I’ll probably be back for the next game, hopefully,” he told ALL-STAR on Wednesday, September 18.
FEU athletic director Mark Molina said Anonuevo will be out for about a week. The longtime FEU student-athlete hopes to be back in time for FEU’s game this weekend against UP on Sunday, September 22. If he doesn’t play then, his next opportunity will come on Wednesday, September 25, against DLSU.
“Hopefully I’m back next game,” Anonuevo said. “I’m not really sure, but right now there’s no pain, it’s getting better right now.”
Anonuevo went scoreless in 3 minutes in FEU’s last game against NU and scored 5 points on 2-of-9 shooting in their season-opener against Adamson. FEU’s next chance at scoring their first win under Sean Chambers will be tough as they’ll be going up against one of the league’s title contenders.
