Fil-Canadian David Penney joins 2024 PBA Draft

Filipino-Canadian guard David Penny has entered his name for the 2024 PBA Draft, his representatives confirmed to ALL-STAR Magazine.

The 6-foot-1 Penney, who is represented by Nadine Jamal and Anthony Brodett, will provide PBA teams another experienced guard as an option to add to their line-up when the annual draft commences on Sunday, July 14.

Penney, 24, previously played for Simon Fraser University where he averaged 12.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game on 41% shooting as a senior. A steady guard who’s consistent on both ends of the floor, he has the talent to become a pivotal piece for a PBA franchise’s aspirations next season and beyond.

“David is a tough court general that leads by example. He brings tenacity, leadership and a strong work ethic we expect in our student-athletes,” SFU head coach Steve Hanson said about Penney, who was an academic honor roll student in high school.

Penney initially committed to the Jack Santiago’s UE Red Warriors as a one-and-done recruit earlier this year but opted to circumvent the collegiate rank in order to chase his aspiration of becoming a pro baller already.

He is one step closer to achieving that.
