Reigning UAAP MVP and De La Salle Green Archers superstar Kevin Quiambao just added another major milestone in his life and this is likely the best one yet.
The 23-year-old basketball sensation welcomed his first child, a boy, with his partner on Wednesday, September 25. As for the boy’s name, Quiambao said this will be announced by his partner in the future.
“It’s a surreal feeling. I’m feeling blessed. It’s a new journey for me. New beginnings. Embrace ko lang yung bagong journey ko,” Quiambao told ALL-STAR Magazine in an exclusive interview.
“Thank you, kay God, and then family ko, and then itong new family ko. It means a lot to me.”
Quiambao caught up on some sleep prior to La Salle’s matchup against FEU on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum after staying up late the night before for obviously important reasons.
For the first time, he was unable to make his usual game day lift session, but was able to get shots up in preparation for La Salle’s first game after losing for the first time in UAAP Season 87 against UE last Sunday.
“Sobrang laking factor niya,” Quiambao said about how his new child will motivate his performance in the coming weeks. “Sana ma carry on ko yung momentum na ma inspire ako dahil nagkaroon ako ng bagong baby.”
Quiambao also admitted that seeing the birth of his child was the best feeling he ever experience, even more than winning the UAAP title last season, although the latter isn’t that far behind.
“May place sa heart ko parehas – yung championship and yung bagong baby,” he stated.
When asked if he will have enough energy to play his typical role for La Salle against an FEU team still seeking its first win, Quiambao said, “I think hindi ko na alam, pero laban lang,” with a laugh.
