Is ONIC PH Just a Farm Team of ONIC ID? Coach Haze Answers
With Kelra’s move to ONIC Indonesia, questions have been flying: is ONIC Philippines just a farm team for its sister squad? For Haze, the answer is simple: not even close.
“Hindi ko naman siya tinignan na ganoon, na farm siya. Opportunity din kasi para sa players iyon, hindi ko mamasamain yung naging decision niya. Pangit din kasi pakinggan kasi sister team din namin ang ONIC Indonesia, ayaw ko rin na nakakarinig ng ganoon terms, na tinatawag na farm team,” Coach Haze told ALL-STAR.
“Desisyon ng player iyon, kung sa tingin niya ay doon siya mag grow, why not? Change is part of growth. Yung change sa amin, growth din iyon para sa amin. Kailangan maging optimistic kami.”
Haze frames player departures as part of the bigger picture. Growth, he says, doesn’t stop with one team. And sometimes, change brings new opportunities that can shift the dynamics of the roster.
Enter Savero, ONIC PH’s new gold laner from Indonesia. A quiet presence with loud expectations, his arrival was a new puzzle piece.
“Yung pagdating ni Savero, inisip ko na lang na good problem siya, opportunity siya. May responsibility rin ako. Opportunity siya kasi nanggaling siya sa ibang region na iba ang meta, so makakadagdag siya sa playstyle namin, kung paano namin tignan ang game,” said Coach Haze.
“Responsibility rin ang pagpasok niya kasi maraming factors ang kailangan namin maayos sa team, may language barrier kami at iba ang culture niya sa Indonesia. Sobrang laking help ng pagdating ni Savero kasi hindi nagkakalayo sa mechanics.”
For Haze, it’s about refining how the team works together, understanding the meta from different regions, and bringing everyone onto the same wavelength.
“Medyo maganda rin ang pagdating niya kasi iba na ang pagwork namin as a team, mas buo na ang nakikita namin sa loob ng game, inaayos namin na lahat as a whole.”
ONIC PH might have lost some familiar faces, but Haze’s perspective is clear: it’s not the end. It’s another chance to grow, adapt, and evolve.
