ONIC Sweeps Aurora Gaming PH To Kick Off MPL PH S18
ONIC Philippines made an early statement in its MPL Philippines Season 18 campaign after taking down Aurora Gaming PH with a commanding 2-0 sweep on Friday evening at the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City.
The victory spoiled the homecoming of Kyle “Koyl” Reyes and Nathanael “Nathzz” Estrologo, who returned to the MPL PH stage coming from Cambodia and North America.
Game 1 saw the Super Family dominate from start to finish, securing a pefect 6-0 kill score while leaving Aurora with little room to recover throughout the 14-minute and seven-second match.
Kirk “Kirk” Gutierrez’s Barats proved indestructible in every skirmish, absorbing damage while denying Aurora any opportunity to take objectives. His dominant performance earned him the Game 1 MVP honors after finishing with a perfect 2-0-4 KDA.
In Game 2, Aurora saw signs of life in the first 3 minutes, but the Aurora-Kaja combo of Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez and Czedrick “Super Yoshi” Romero proved too much to handle as the Super Family controlled the succeeding minutes, closing the match in 13-minutes and 13-seconds. Super Yoshi earned Game 2 MVP honors with a perfect KDA of 4 kills and 9 assists.
The Super Family are now one win away from closing out Week 1 with a perfect 2-0 record. They will face AP.Bren on Sunday at 5:00 pm. Meanwhile, Aurora will look to bounce back against TNC Pro Team on Sunday.
