Pokémon UNITE to Shut Down in March 2027
Pokémon UNITE will officially shut down on March 23, 2027, bringing an end to nearly six years of service for the Pokémon franchise’s team-based multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) title.
The game’s developers announced Tuesday that services for both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions will end at 00:00 UTC on March 23, 2027. Players will no longer be able to log in or participate in battles once the servers shut down.
As part of its farewell activities, Pokémon UNITE will hold a special in-game event starting November 12, alongside the introduction of a new Library feature that will allow players to revisit certain game records and content even after the servers close.
The shutdown also comes after a historic campaign for the Philippines in the 2026 Asian Games, where the national esports team SIBOL secured a bronze medal in the Pokémon UNITE competition.
The Filipino squad reached the semifinals before falling to Indonesia, 0-2, to settle for the bronze. The podium finish marked the Philippines’ first-ever esports medal in the Asian Games.
Competitive players will still have one final tournament to look forward to before the game’s closure.
The Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 will hold its grand finals in Tokyo, Japan, on March 20 and 21, with regional qualifiers scheduled to begin on December 5.
The tournament will feature 32 teams competing for a share of its $1-million prize pool, making it the game’s final major international competition before its servers officially go offline.
