SBP, SGA Team Up to Boost Gilas Women’s 3×3

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has partnered with Strong Group Athletics (SGA) to support the Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 and U23 3×3 teams as they prepare for key local and international competitions in 2025.

SBP Executive Director Erika Dy welcomed the sponsorship, emphasizing its significance in developing women’s basketball.

“We’re happy for the support of Strong Group Athletics. They’ve been an ally in promoting and supporting women’s sports, and we’re looking forward to providing our Filipina ballers the training and competition they need to reach their full potential,” Dy said.

The Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 team has been making strides on the international stage, recently securing back-to-back third-place finishes. The talented squad, featuring Mikka Cacho, Camille Clarin, Jhazmin Joson, and Hazelle Yam, won bronze at the Manila Hustle 3×3 Season 3. Kaye Pingol replaced Yam for the Jumpshot 3×3 Season 2 in Singapore, where the team also finished third.

SGA President Jacob Lao, who is also Converge’s team manager in the PBA, underscored the company’s commitment to basketball development.

“At Strong Group Athletics, we believe in the power of collaboration to elevate Philippine basketball. Partnering with the SBP is a step towards fostering growth at every level – developing young talent, supporting our national teams, and strengthening the foundation of the sport we love,” Lao said. “Strong Group is fully committed to this cause, supporting the SBP in its mission, including helping women’s basketball reach greater heights with the ultimate goal of making it to the Olympics.”

The teams have a packed schedule ahead. The Women’s 3×3 squad will compete in the Got Game 3×3 in Manila this month before heading to the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup in Singapore. Their year will conclude with a bid to reclaim the gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games. Meanwhile, the U23 team will take part in the FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League 2025 – U23 Asia-Pacific in May.

With the added backing from Strong Group Athletics, the Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 program is poised for further success as it continues to build momentum on the road to international basketball prominence.
